I'm combining yesterday and today, because yesterday only counts for 1/2 a day. I spent the entire day curled into an nauseaous ball on the couch (except for my drive to the store for Emetrol) whimpering and trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Watched a lot of soap operas on tv, but didn't start feeling better until around 7pm. Watched Pushing Daisies, which I recommend. It's macabre, but in a quirky fun sort of way. If Danny Elfman and Tim Minear had a love child, this would be it. :) I also saw Life, and it is interesting so far. Nice, too, that in a world of Law and Orders and CSIs, Life is a bit more light-hearted. I recommend them! :) On to today! I just heard back from Wizards of the Coast- my trouble with their website has earned me the ability to email my resume and cover letter in, which I hope makes me stand out (though not in a bad way) when they review it for the two positions I applied for. I have to admit, being an RPG associate game designer would R-O-C-K! So would be a book editor for their D&D novelizations. :) Sadly, Becker&Mayer! kicked me out of the running, and after all that dropping off a resume in the rain and everything. :( I spent 3 hours in the Seattle Aquarium and noodling around the wharf today. Oddly enough, Seattle harbor (even with the ferry traffice) does not smell the same as San Diego harbor. At the boat docks in San Diego you can smell the diesel, and the ocean has a strong salt tang to it. In Seattle it's more mellow, and mixed with the smells of fresh fish and coffee....it doesn't sound it from my description right there, but it's quite pleasant and relaxing. I took a ton of photos of the fur seals and river and sea otters, who obliged me with a variety of poses and fun antics at the Aquarium. The fish were cool, too, and a good reminder that I need to get SCUBA certified when I get up here. That is, if I'm living near the Sound. I say that because I am trying to work out getting a job at Northwest Trek as a possibility. The hardship there is that they hardly ever hire full time (I think the statistic was once every 6-8 years), so I'd be doing volunteer or internship (on the weekends, I suppose) until I could get a part time job there, and then finding some other part time job. Of course, I don't think I'd be making over $10/hour part time in either case, which worries me. Cost of living in Eatonville or Yelm areas might be lower, but I still have debts that don't change amount no matter where I live. And there's always a toss-up: working with animals and getting zoology experience vs. being dirt poor again. Hrm. I can't seem to find businesses in Eatonville or Yelm, so I might be roving up to an hour north of Northwest Trek (i.e. Olympia or Tacoma) for my "other" job. I'll try to get a feel for it tomorrow while I'm there. If I did live near Eatonville, though, the sad fact is I'd be in cowboy country, 1.5 hours south of Seattle. Maybe I can convince Syn and Melissa to move there, and then I can come crash at their place on the weekends and work NW Trek that way...hrmm.... ;) Anyway, I have all day tomorrow to play around down there, while Noel flies up at Arlington. For the rest of today, I'm going to unpack all the Christmas gifts that I bought at Pier 56 and Pier 53, then meet Noel for Thai dinner at Chantane (or however it's spelled) later on. Wish me luck on the job front, guys, and see you soon! :)
